FAQs
How it works
How does an ATM work?
When a customer inserts their card, the ATM dials out to connect to the banking network. Once connected, the ATM sends the credit/debit card and transaction information to the card-issuing bank via a switching service operated by Paymark. The bank accepts or declines the transaction and, if accepted, the cash is dispensed from the ATM. The funds and a transaction fee are withdrawn from the cardholder’s account and deposited into your nominated bank account within one to two business days.
What type of cards does the ATM accept?
Your ATM is ‘multi-card’ and will accept most legitimate, pin-based local, regional and international cards.
Apart from the direct fee income, what other financial benefits are there?
Overseas experience shows that sites with independent ATMs experience an increase in sales turnover driven by greater impulse buying. Studies have shown sales to increase by as much as 25%. Installing an ATM may also lower your cash handling costs as you can recycle good quality notes in the ATM.
What services are included as part of the lease?
We will install the ATM and provide ongoing monitoring and maintenance. We provide training for you and your staff and support via a 24-hour help desk.

You provide the cash and load it into the machine. (You can take advantage of our partnership arrangement with Armourguard if you prefer not to take on the responsibility of loading the ATM yourself.)You also supply and load the till tapes needed for customer receipts.
Who pays the power and phone charges?
We pay the telecommunications charges. You pay for the power to operate the machine.
What about insurance?
In most cases, you will be responsible for maintaining insurance cover for the ATM.
What reports will I receive?
You will have access to online reports which will provide you with a daily and monthly statement for each ATM location to help you balance and reconcile your ATM.
Who maintains the ATM? For how long? And at what cost?
We maintain the ATM seven days a week for the term of our merchant agreement. We also provide 24/7 helpdesk support through our Australian sister company Customers Limited.
How secure is the cash in my ATM?
All the ATMs we install meet the rigorous Paymark New Zealand security standards. These standards ensure secure storage of cash within the device and secure transmission of transactions for users (all our ATMs are awarded the Paymark NZ symbol of electronic payment security) Each ATM is physically secured during installation using approved materials and methods of installation.
Above and beyond the enhanced security features of the ATM, we also provide recommended security procedures and training for the day-to-day operation of your ATM. In many instances, these practical steps reduce the risk of theft or intrusion at your business ATM. Physical cash security remains your responsibility at all times.

What are the site owner's responsibilities?
Before we can install the ATM, you need to clear an area and provide a grounded 240-volt power point with surge protector.
Where should the ATM be located? How much space does it need?
The ATM should be placed in an easily accessible and in a highly visible traffic area. The exact space requirements depend on the ATM model you select.
